Assessment Services

We have current immediate availability
for assessment services.

Our Psychologists can conduct cognitive assessments (COG), educational assessments as well as ADHD assessments for children (7 years+), adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties with aspects of learning, adaptive functioning and executive functioning. Our skilled Psychologists will tailor each assessment to your presenting needs using a variety of assessment batteries depending on your age and presentation. These may include but are not limited to: WISC-V, WAIS-V, WIAT-3, CTOPP-3, DASH-2, CONNERS-4, VABS-3, SDQ. A selection of our most commonly requested assessment packages are outlined below.

Cognitive Assessment:
To explore aspects of intelligence (including verbal and non-verbal skills, working memory, abstract thinking and processing speed) and to identify specific areas of strength and challenge. We may also explore adaptive functioning skills and socio-emotional functioning as part of this assessment.

Educational Assessment:
To explore aspects of intelligence and academic achievement, in order to determine areas of strength and improvement, or to identify the presence or absence of a specific learning disorder (i.e., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia). This assessment may also explore other factors contributing to the challenges you are experiencing.

ADHD Assessment:
To explore aspects of executive functioning (including attention, working memory, inhibitory control and organisational skills) and how they impact functioning in everyday life across settings. Your psychologist can determine if you meet the threshold for a diagnosis of ADHD and provide you with practical strategies to support your executive functioning skills. They may also explore other factors that are contributing to or are a better explanation of your presenting challenges.

Assessment Process

Initial consultation
You and/or your carer/guardian will speak with the assessing psychologist for an initial session. This will enable you to describe your reasons for seeking assessment and provide information in relation to these. Our psychologist will ask questions about your background that are relevant and important in helping guide our psychologists to determine what kind of assessment will be most appropriate to explore your needs.

Assessment Session
The assessment can take from as few as 2 hours to as many as 4 hours of face to face contact, held over one or several different sessions. The assessment typically involves the administration of tests done on both an iPad and with pen and paper. Most people find it interesting and fun, but it can also be tiring.

Feedback
Following the assessment, you will be provided with verbal feedback and a written report outlining the key findings and recommendations to support your areas of strength and challenge, as well as any next steps, in order to maximise your functioning. Written and verbal feedback is tailored to the needs of each client and referral source, providing personalised strategies, psychoeducation and next steps of required.
